GEO and IQOXE Sign MoU to Explore Localized Battery Material Production in Spain
December 4, 2025, Tarragona, Spain.
GEO signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IQOXE, the only ethylene oxide (EO) producer in Spain. The MoU was signed by Dr. Martin Saewe, President of GEO Europe, and Mr. Jose Manuel Segura, General Manager of IQOXE.
IQOXE’s extensive expertise in EO production and chemical park operations in Tarragona provides a solid foundation for localized upstream feedstock manufacturing. Under the Memorandum, the two companies will explore establishing a local production of crucial battery materials through a potential joint venture. This partnership will strengthen GEO’s supply capability and cost competitiveness in Europe, while supporting localization of important raw materials for the region’s energy sector.
This MoU represents an important milestone in expanding GEO’s upstream feedstock production for electrolyte formulations in Europe and accelerating the development of a regionalized, sustainable manufacturing ecosystem.
